Ukraine has announced the start of large-scale manufacturing for an innovative domestically developed defensive UAV to enhance its aerial protection systems. The first three manufacturers have started production, with 11 more preparing to set up assembly lines, Ukrainian military officials announced this past Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Proven in Combat Conditions

These UAVs will be based on a domestically developed technology known as “Octopus” engineered to neutralize Iranian-made drones. The system has been tested in combat and proved effective “at night, amid electronic warfare and flying low,” officials stated. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of manufacturing as many as 1,000 defensive drones daily.

Recent Attack on Kyiv Described as Calculated

Volodymyr Zelenskyy described Moscow's most recent assault against Ukraine as “intentional, premeditated and brutal” after six individuals were killed and dozens injured in a series of night-time strikes throughout Kyiv. Air raid sirens sounded in Kyiv shortly after 12 AM on Friday, with Shahed drones soon detected overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukrainian air defences.

Russia’s Black Sea port of Novorossiysk halted for a period oil exports this past Friday – representing two percent of global supply – following a strike by Ukrainian forces. Ukraine’s general staff stated its forces had launched Neptune cruise missiles and used multiple kinds of strike drones in the attack on Novorossiysk “within the framework of operations to reduce the military and economic potential of the invading force.”
