Two Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident
An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.
A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.
The arrests come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, two women had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.
A toddler aged three was one of the those hurt during the incident. Five people went to hospital for medical care and were later released.
Police detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.
Police were called at about 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people hurt by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.
The attack - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
