This Swine Life: Pig Named Six Seven Spared by Miami Dade County Leader.

While perhaps not at the same level as pardoning holiday birds, but the Miami-Dade County mayor experienced a presidential-style act this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She is worthy of this pardon. She has committed zero crimes,” Levine Cava said in a speech with obvious nods to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued from the start of the onset of a new presidential term.

“Unless you count eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” the mayor added. “I hope she experiences a long and happy life away from worry.”

The gathering, simultaneously observing and challenging the area's customary feast of consuming swine during the holidays, was established to mirror the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The swine, contributed by a first responder, was given its name from the modern linguistic fad of young people exclaiming “six-seven” – originating from a rap song lyric – often seemingly at random. The phrase became so widespread that a major dictionary recently declared “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

The pardoned swine is now scheduled to spend its days at a rural sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The annual pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to begin the end-of-year celebrations,” said the cafe owner, in a decidedly positive message.

“It captures the essence of Miami: vibrant, diverse, and grounded in customs that foster togetherness. Annually, we are proud to celebrate culture and compassion in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Attendees enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach fritters and strong coffee as they toasted the swine's new lease on life.
