The Renowned Musician Calls On Backing to Get Together for Palestine Track to UK Christmas No 1.
A campaign is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The effort seeks to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
An Opportunity for Support and an "Chart Upset"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an surprise number one.
“It would be fantastic if that happened, yes,” he commented. “I won't be completely let down if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”
Resilient Spirit of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.
“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “It’s basically saying that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Star-Studded Lineup
The track was produced in the wake of a solidarity show held in September. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.
The diverse array of performers contributing to Lullaby features a range of acclaimed names from the music world. All were part of the benefit event, which successfully generated a considerable total for relief efforts.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was brought to life by a trio of music creators. The single showcases a mix of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.
The team running the initiative have clarified that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These resources will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an established charity.
“We haven't set a rigid aim,” a representative said. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Obviously, the higher the total, the greater the impact. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”
The context in the region was noted for its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of property described as levelled or seriously harmed.
“In that context, a few million doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is first of all making this cause better known and proving the human dimension of the story.”
The track is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the solidarity show will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
