Expected Jailing
The convicted instigator – who has been subject to house arrest in his estate while a set of court processes and petitions unfold – is broadly anticipated to be incarcerated in the near future, amid increasing rumors that he will be transferred to a notorious high-security prison.
Historical Statements on Convicts
During Bolsonaro’s four-decade time in politics, the far-right former soldier displayed scant compassion for Brazil’s jailed individuals.
“Why should we provide these dirtbags a good life?” he once pondered. “They should just get messed, period. That's my opinion.”
In another instance, Bolsonaro proclaimed: “Should you not wish to finish there, all you have to do is to avoid rape, kidnap or rob.”
Jail Facility Speculation
Yet the prospect of Bolsonaro himself ending up in the Papuda prison maximum security prison in Brasília has horrified supporters, a group of four this week toured the facility in an obvious effort to discourage the high court from banishing him there.
The senator, a senator from Bolsonaro’s allied group who was among that group, stated he predicted the 70-year-old figure to be jailed in the next 10 days and was concerned his location could be Papuda.
The senator argued Bolsonaro’s severe intestinal problems – the consequence of a near-fatal knife attack during the 2018 political campaign – implied it would be hazardous to keep the ex-leader there. “His condition is highly critical. He cannot to cope if they take him to Papuda … It will be dreadful,” he added, who also voiced anxiety about overcrowded cells and the quality of jail cuisine.
When inspecting Papuda, Lucas noted observing cells holding four dozen prisoners: “That is almost one square meter per prisoner.

Not a soul wants Bolsonaro to lack food or for him to have to lie on concrete. We desire him to get dignified handling – but respectful handling behind bars. He can’t continue being his own prison warden for his whole life.”
The congressman noted how Bolsonaro allies, who have long applauding the harsh treatment of prisoners, had suddenly become aware to their entitlements. “Only now has the conservative fringe – which has always claimed that civil liberties were not for lawbreakers – decided to tour a prison to learn what circumstances are actually like,” he remarked.
“Bolsonaro is a criminal,” Otoni insisted, but that did not mean he deserved “shameful, demeaning treatment”.
Possible Incarceration Facilities

Based on sources, the room Bolsonaro could likely occupy in Papudinha is about 260 square feet – roughly the area of a couple of car spots – and includes a 130 square foot bathroom with a bathing area and a 130 square foot terrace. “Bolsonaro would be authorized to have a set and additionally a minibar in his quarters as long as they were supplied by his loved ones,” information suggested.
Political Reactions
