People have come together across the country to remember 24 months since the Hamas-initiated offensive on that fateful day in October 2023, as discussions advanced in Egypt over a resolution to the hostilities in the Gaza Strip.

The attack resulted in over 1,200 people killed and 251 others captured away to Gaza as captives. It was the most deadliest day for Jewish people since the World War II.

Israel answered by launching a armed campaign in Gaza which has taken more than 67,000 people, as reported by the territory's Hamas-run health ministry. Its statistics are considered reliable by the UN and other global organizations.

"Our violent adversaries have caused great damage, but they have not defeated us," Benjamin Netanyahu stated on that day.

He also vowed to "achieve all the objectives of the war: the release of all the kidnapped, the destruction of the Hamas administration and the promise that Gaza will never again create a risk to Israel".

Commemorative Gatherings Across Israel

The national leadership postponed official remembrance events until 16 October - after the conclusion of the religious holiday season - but events still occurred throughout the country on Tuesday.

A remembrance service for the relatives of Israelis killed in the Hamas assault was held in Tel Aviv. Organized by the affected families, it was broadcast on Israeli television channels.

Hours earlier, a moment of silence was respected around the country.

Peace Discussions in Egypt

Meanwhile, the conflicting parties' negotiating teams gathered in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of the negotiation venue for a follow-up session of third-party negotiations to examine the conditions of the agreement.

A prominent representative familiar with the negotiations indicated that an late session of negotiations began at 7 PM local time.

The official stated the earlier meeting concluded without tangible results, amid conflicting views over the suggested Israeli withdrawal maps from Gaza and over guarantees Hamas wants to guarantee Israel does not resume combat after the opening period of the agreement.

He noted that the negotiations are "challenging and have yet to achieve any real breakthrough," but pointed out that mediators are working hard to reduce the gaps between the two sides.

Essential Issues in Talks

  • A lasting ceasefire
  • The exchange of the captives still detained by Hamas for detainees from Gaza
  • The withdrawal of troops from Gaza
  • Plans for assistance provision
  • Future administration of the area

Civilian Feeling

In Tel Aviv's memorial area earlier, young a woman - whose brother endured the assault on the Nova music festival, where 378 people were lost their lives and dozens more were abducted by Hamas fighters - shared: "Nowhere seems like home anymore and until every captive return not a single person will be secure."

"When we see everybody home once more, we can relax again. Then we can start to recover," she added.

Outside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's official dwelling in the capital, people assembled to express their solidarity for the relatives of the abducted. Israel states nearly fifty stay in detention in Gaza, twenty of whom are thought to be surviving.

Activist a participant explained: "We must do every compromise needed for the hostages to return. But we sincerely need assurances that we will be safe."

Opinion polls now regularly indicate that about the majority of Israelis prefer the conflict to finish in as payment for the liberation of the hostages.

Gaza Circumstances

At the site of the music event, mourners gathered to remember the victims.

From there, the boom of Israeli air strikes and explosions could be heard just a few kilometres away in Gaza, where local people reported the severe Israeli bombardment continued.

In Gaza City, air and artillery strikes were documented in the dawn of Tuesday in the west side Tal al-Hawa, sector and locality neighbourhoods and in the east side area of that sector, as well the settlement to the north-west.

"Once the evening arrives, the anxiety appears with it," evacuated Gaza City resident a mother, whose 17-year-old son was died by an Israeli air strike previously, explained.

"My family are terrified of the bombings. During nighttime we are lying together, embracing, notably my smallest child who rests his face on me the entire evening."

"Every second we check the reports to see the situation. And I'm worried that this halt will not be completed and that the fighting will return to us."

Health Emergency

The medical facility in the urban area reported it had taken in the corpses of several people by the afternoon, including a trio who lost their lives in an Israeli bombing in the southern district.

Another medical facility in the southern urban center of Khan Younis said additional fatalities had been delivered. A person was killed by Israeli troops while looking for assistance to the south, medical staff said.

The region's health ministry announced twenty-five of the {territ
