New information has come to light concerning the shocking deaths of renowned film director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their Brentwood, Los Angeles property on Sunday.

The Initial Report

According to a report quoting a confidential source, a practitioner arriving for an session initially became concerned after failing to get inside the home. The practitioner then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.

Upon entering the house, Romy discovered her father's body. Reports state she then left the home distraught, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Her roommate who had accompanied her contacted 911. Subsequently, emergency responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Proceedings

Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, along with the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently in custody and is ineligible for bail.

Clarifications

The person close to the family questioned several earlier details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that time.

The source also pushed back against published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "apprehensive" about Nick's behavior in the weeks leading up to the incident. Instead the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."

The statement also extends to accounts of alleged "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a party thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. Although the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they asserted that reports of a "heated argument" between the two were untrue.

Ongoing Inquiry Timeline

Per law enforcement officials, the coroner had yet to determine at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports suggested the state of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for some hours.

Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the residence. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until no sooner than Wednesday.
