Former Doctor Accused of Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have announced that a former physician now faces charges for performing sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One senior CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges come after what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
